In 1882 Marianne’s brother Andrew Clark Caughey joined them, and Smith & Caughey, Draper and Clothiers was established. Years later, the business continued to flourish and Smith & Caughey’s became one of New Zealand’s most adorned department stores in Auckland, known for its personal approach and attention to detail.
