My name is Sandra Boston and I’m the owner and founder of Kiwicakes. While pregnant with my second child in 2006 I created Kiwicakes to allow me to work part-time from home. I had a passion for cake decorating and in New Zealand at the time it was difficult to source cake decorating supplies.
Fast forward 16 years, Kiwicakes, we have a gorgeous store in Vine st Whangarei. We are the NZ distributor of many international brands for amateur and professional cake decorators.
I am a trained Wilton Method instructor and love teaching students the art of cake decorating. I enjoy making cakes for my children and family and have created some special cakes for collaborations with other national cake decorators, such as the ‘Desolation of Smaug’ cake I made for a not-for-profit Peter Jackson cake collaboration in 2015.
Here at Kiwicakes we are constantly on the lookout for new products and are proud to bring you the newest and latest finds in the world of cake decorating. We have a passion for kiwiana, hence the name Kiwicakes.
We have scoured the world for our product range. We regularly import from Australia, UK and USA. In some cases, if we couldn’t find it we’ve had it custom made.
We are particularly proud of our custom Kiwiana silicone moulds, Kiwiana acrylic toppers and our latest creation a sprinkle medley range (hand mixed in our commercial kitchen).
At Kiwicakes we are proud to support two charities, Operation Sugar (photo at the top of this page is Sandra with Katie, the recipient of an Operation Sugar cake) and SPCA Whangarei Branch/SPCA Cupcake Day.
