If you’re a business owner with employees, you know how important it is to pay them correctly and on time. It’s probably one of the most important things you do!
And thanks to payroll software, many businesses now manage this process in-house.
After working for many years for a payroll software company helping business owners and payroll administrators with all their payroll questions (and frustrations!), I noticed something.
While payroll software made it possible for businesses to manage their own payroll, there was this misunderstanding that anyone could enter the details, and the software would do the rest.
It’s no surprise because Payroll legislation in New Zealand is complex, and understanding all the rules – not to mention how to apply them in your software – can be time-consuming and stressful.
But it’s also incredibly important because the consequences of not getting it right can be serious.
Apart from disgruntled employees, non-compliance can result in fines, legal fees, and a lot of time and money to sort out.
That’s why I’ve made it my mission to demystify the payroll process and take the stress out of paying employees correctly (because, let's be honest, there are plenty of things that are stressful about running a business, and paying wages shouldn’t be one of them!).
Let's chat if you need help in making sure your payroll software is keeping you compliant with NZ Legislation.
