Eco-Friendly & Sustainable Postage Packaging Options in NZ

As a retailer, finding eco-friendly and sustainable packaging options to use when sending products to customers can be a challenge. Thankfully, many packaging companies are now offering recyclable or compostable courier bags, cardboard packaging or letting you provide your own packaging.

We've done some research and found where you can purchase eco-friendly packaging in NZ, plus some ideas on DIY packaging options too.

Where To Buy Eco-Friendly Postage Packaging

Hunting the internet to find the best eco-friendly packaging is time consuming. Not any more though, because here is a comprehensive list of where to purchase sustainable packaging in NZ:

  • Quick Brown Box - these guys sell empty boxes you can pack your products into, then add your own postage on the outside.
  • r3pack - looking for paper courier bags? r3pack sell them, along with recycled courier bags.
  • Woolcool - using wool as a natural insulator, this company offers both boxes and pouches.
  • ecobags - here you'll find compostable courier bags.
  • GoSweetSpot - this courier company provides compostable courier bags also.
  • New Zealand Couriers - offer a recycled and recyclable courier bag option for documents.
  • NZ Post - head down to the Post Office, or through their pick up system, and NZ Post also offer recyclable packaging options.
  • The Better Packaging Company - plenty of compostable options here.

DIY Packaging Options

DIY packaging may not be the most convenient option, but it can be the cheapest. Some of the best ideas for DIY packaging we found are:
  • reusing empty cereal boxes
  • cut up egg cartons for fragile items
  • reusing empty paper towel rolls
  • reusing plastic courier bags, readdressing and adding new postage
  • fabric bags make great packaging options, and give the customer something extra to keep
